Annual Tree Index Report

Eaton Farms introduced the ANNUAL TREE INDEX in August of 2010. The Tree Index is designed to provide Independent Garden Centers with valuable information and data collected from survey participants, mainly independent garden centers. The INDEX number reflects the overall performance of Retail Garden Center Tree sales for the previous spring season. The Spring 2010 Tree Index scored a 61/100. Previous Spring INDEX numbers were 55/100 in 2009 and 39/100 in 2008.

The INDEX is calculated based on information gathered regarding Economic Conditions and forecasts, Actual Tree Sales performance as reported by participants, current Tree inventory levels and overall Tree department performance and trends. Index improvement over the previous springs has been mostly due to reduced inventory levels in the garden center.

The ANNUAL INDEX REPORT provides details on best selling trees, best selling sizes, pricing and discounting, add-on sale products, challenges and solutions associated with the retail sales event and much more. Inventory and buying recommendations are offered based on the information gathered.

Now for the first time your buyers and managers have access to valuable information gathered from other independents to help grow Tree sales and reduce season ending inventories. Participants receive a printed and bound report each August. Others are welcome to request a copy of the report for a minimal charge, please contact us at .
